Internship in Prague - Part 2

On September 13–14 we once again met with our international colleagues for the second module of the training led by psychologist and Gestalt therapist Iván Gómez García from Valencia.

This time we delved into the concept of Creative Accompaniment – a working model that helps improve communication between caring professionals and children, adolescents, and their families. We looked for answers to questions such as: What to say? How to say it? And how to make sure our words are accompanied by adequate actions?

The programme covered topics that often put our abilities to the test in daily practice:

✨ How to deal with frustration, uncertainty, and vulnerability
✨ How to build safety and trust with children and parents
✨ How to hold challenging conversations with severely ill children ✨ How to listen to both our body and mind ✨ How to cultivate empathy and compassion through practical exercises
✨ And how art, sound, and creativity can help in difficult moments
✨ How to describe what we see without value judgment – being a clear observer, preserving humanity, and avoiding automatism
✨ How to strengthen awareness by recognising what we can be grateful for – nurturing a sense of inner happiness

Just like in the first module, there was no shortage of playfulness, experimentation, and moments when we had to step out of our comfort zone. Once again, we were reminded that in order to accompany others, we need the courage to look inside ourselves as well.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Iván for his sensitive guidance – and to the Erasmus+ programme, which made this training possible and allowed professionals from across Europe to connect.
